“I am a passionate traveler, and from the time I was a child, travel formed me as much as my formal education,” says David Rockefeller, the famous American banker and the highly regarded philanthropist. He rightly puts across his experience on the long debated notion, whether it’s worth taking the trouble of carrying your kids along on your vacations. We say, it’s the other way round, your kiddos ought to go out and see the world more than you do, and that seems to be the need of the hour. It’s not us who are claiming this, the whole universe seems to be pointing in the same direction. Let’s find out why.

1. It’s an adventure of a sort

They get to try somersaulting in open-wide spaces and see their favourite animals up-close.

2. Now, going round and round the world will eventually make them realize that world is not flat.

At least that they would understand before hand the need to teach them through a book.

3. What a brilliant way to memorize things and give them some happy memories

Because they are like a sponge in their foundation years, they will soak up everything and remember it through their lives.

4. Seeing everything life-size and live, is the best way to enhance and enrich understanding

Yes, we do send them to schools with international curriculum, but how about some practical implementation of this knowledge. Best study skill backed by examples!

5. They also get to know that the world is much much bigger than they can fathom

And there’s always something to explore beyond their little world. We always come back with bigger minds and smaller egos.

6. This also develops their sense to deal with problems at hand and become more flexible

When kids get out of their homes and face unexpected challenges in unfamiliar places, they start getting more comfortable in different situations, this boosts their confidence big time.

7. And it’s truly a gift for life

Like we get after their life to read books and develop it as a passion, travelling is a passion too. More they travel, the better travellers they become with time.

8. Though these beings are petite, but they have inquisitive eyes and minds

Which only broaden further when they see new things every now and then.

9. Also, they see things differently.

They stop and take their sweet time to observe what we might overlook. This is when we must give them a chance to take a flight of fancy, since it does much good to their imagination.

10. Now since interaction is constricted to social media, here’s a good chance to expose kids to real life situations

Where they can practice their social skills thus improving a general social sense.

11. They also develop new interests and skills

When we are talking about social media and computers, how can we forget about the infamous playstations? By travelling to places they only get to know there are more interesting things to do than stick to their pods.

12. Yes, and of course life skills too

They learn new languages, taste new food, learn why discipline is important, and how a little adjustment goes a long way.

13. Most importantly, they come in contact with other cultures, which increases their acceptability and social-cultural understanding

Thus making them humble, and this no book can teach, but only travelling and meeting new people can.

14. The best thing of all is that they come closer to their family

Kids bond with parents and siblings better over travels and associate with them as their home rather than a place.

All this and many reasons why kiddos really need to get out and see the world - travelling would always have its perks attached to it, besides the obvious fun.

People professionally know me as a copy editor, correspondent and a writer, but writing is something I do even when I am not professionally engaged. I like to visit new places, explore, experience different cultures and share my perspective through words. Writing for food, travel and books is something that comes naturally, and is close to my heart.
