Of all the South East Asian countries, a happy vacation just doesn’t have to be in Vietnam for sure. It could make you repulsive of this part of the world. Just don’t get us talking.

1. Expecting natural beauty here would be foolish.

A boat-ride down the river, in a beautiful natural setting of Ninh Binh.

2. Because the most scenic of places are also ordinary…

Unruffled and virgin islands of Quang Ninh.

3. …and filthy.

Lagoons of Hue, reflect back the morning sun in crystal clear waters.

4. Such an awfully uneventful culture…

Feasting and celebrations that happen during Vietnamese mid autumn festival days.

5. Dont go, you’ll be bored to death.

The world famous water puppetry is an important attraction in Hanoi. It dates back to 11th century.

6. And we’re sure nobody is going down for that.

Mui Ne is one of those few places in the world where you can surf the red and white massive sand dunes.

7. What’s so special about these?

These Vietnamese lanterns are created using natural silk, dyed in myriad of hues.

8. Even the food doesn’t seem particularly delectable.

Vietnamese rice paper rolls stuffed with vegetables and shrimps is a noted delicacy around the world.

9. Here’s another one that’s unnecessarily hyped about.

The Vietnamese coffee, lovingly expressed from Phin filter, is mixed with sweet condensed milk to produce iced coffee that’s a rage around the world.

10. This war-torn country hasn’t seen any urban development ever.

One of the major cities of the country, Ho Chi Minh city’s skyline is no less than any other world-class metropolitan.

11. Nightlife in a remote place as this? Nah.

The colorful Luong Nhu Hoc lantern street, in Ho Chi Minh city, is at its best post sun down.

12. Vietnamese architecture seems mediocre…

Buu Long Pagoda reflects ancient and ornate Buddhist architecture from late 17th century, that makes quite a sight.

13. …and the villages are shabby.

The old town of Hoi An happens to be an exceptionally well preserved UNESCO World Heritage site.

14. Rotting waters are an eyesore too.

While rowing a boat down the Yen stream, on the way to Huong pagoda in Hanoi, you will be surrounded by most enviable landscapes.

15. Don’t expect any peace here.

Vietnam has some of the most peaceful and impressive monasteries spanning over acres of land, with colossal idols of Buddha.

16. Even the locals aren’t very friendly…

Duc Den Thui

Vietnam is considered a tourist-friendly country where you could easily mingle with the locals and soak in some culture.

17. So, as we said, visiting Vietnam is such a dumb idea.

These awe-inspiring terraced rice fields of Yen Bai happen to be in the list of the most colorful landscapes in the world.

People professionally know me as a copy editor, correspondent and a writer, but writing is something I do even when I am not professionally engaged. I like to visit new places, explore, experience different cultures and share my perspective through words. Writing for food, travel and books is something that comes naturally, and is close to my heart.
