A cold, desert climate prevails here. Winters are long and harsh, and stretch from October to early March. The Ladakh region receives heavy snowfall in winter and roads are cut off during this time. Temperatures are well below freezing, ranging from - 2°C to -15°C in Leh, and going as low as -35 °C in other areas. Summer, from June-September, is pleasant with warm days and cool nights. Temperatures are around 30 °C. This is the best time to visit as it is possible to trek outdoors and fully enjoy the beauty of Ladakh.
