Tibetan to European, Continental and Kashmiri cuisine, there are choices galore for the foodie in Leh. Most of the restaurants are open air and bustling with people throughout the day. Tibetan Cuisine: Most Tibetan restaurants serve the staple Tsampa with Yak Butter. Boiled beef and mutton, momos, noodle Soup and thukpa are on the menu as well. Wash this down with traditional Tibetan barley wine. Himalaya Cafe is a popular Tibetan restaurant in Leh. Dreamland Cafe is a good option as well. The Wok Tibetan Kitchen near the Main Bazaar is a trendy Tibetan joint. Continental Cuisine: There are many multi-cuisine and continental options in Leh. The Pumpernickel German Bakery at Zangsty Road serves great brownies, freshly baked bread and yak cheese. Penguin Café has a range of pastas, pancakes and teas. If you just want some sandwiches or light continental fare, head to Summer Harvest or Hotel Ibex.

Gesmo Restaurant

A quaint little cafe in Leh, this is a great haunt to meet fellow travellers and locals. They serve a good mix of Indian and continental, with staples like pancakes and donuts on the menu. Breakfasts are quite popular here, ranging from parathas to fresh breads and bakes.

Penguin Garden Restaurant

A cozy little hidden restaurant offering a range of European and Indian food. Relax and unwind over a plate of tandoori chicken or steaks, whatever you’re in the mood for.

Summer Harvest Restaurant

If it’s Indian food you’re craving, head to Summer Harvest. Sports on the big screen TV, beers to cool you off, and great Chinese and Indian fare to suit your mood. The momos are a hit here as well.

Leh View Restaurant

A quaint Kashmiri-owned place with a fabulous rooftop view. The fare includes typical Kashmiri meats and curries. The Goshtaba and Yakhni are popular items on the menu.

La Pizzeria

Sit out on the terrace with a great view of the mountains, and enjoy your Italian meal. One of Leh’s fancier restaurants, and pricier too, the food here is a hot favourite with tourists. Indian items are also on the menu, including tandoori, and beer is available as well.
