Ibrahim Nasir International Airport or Male International Airport as it is more commonly known, is the main international airport in the Maldives. It is located on Hulhule Island (North Male Atoll), not far from the capital island - Male.The airport is well connected with major airports around the world, and is the main entry point into the country for tourists.Gan International Airport is located on Gan island in Addu Atoll (also known as Seenu Atoll) in the Maldives. It was recently upgraded to international status, but as of now international operations haven’t commenced.

Getting Around

Internal transport service within Maldives is very well maintained and efficient. There is round-the-clock ferry service from Male international airport for transporting travelers from one island resort to another. A dhoni ferry leaves every 15 minutes from the airport for the capital. After midnight the interval increases to every 30 minutes. However, speedboats and sea planes have become popular features of Maldives’ internal transport between islands, especially if they aren’t very close to each other.
