Since, a large number of goods here are imported from Singapore, the market has been nicknamed ‘Singapore Bazar’.The local market on the northern waterfront near Male’s fish market offers an excellent array of local handicrafts and goods from the atolls. In a bid to protect the environment and conserve animals, buying or selling of crocodile skin, coral and tortoise shells is strictly prohibited in Maldives.All shops regularly stay open till 11 pm.
