We’ve been through the camping in tents and we’ve been through tree houses, what now? A sort of hybrid union between the two really! Say hello to the latest in eccentric accommodation and camping in the wilderness, the Tree Tent!

The Red Kite Tree Tent is essentially a hanging orb that fuses the elements of conventional camping and log-cabin experiences to create a new treehouse with a twist. It’s almost as if you could live in a giant green marble, 3 metres in diameter, suspended amidst the trees with an ingenious rigging system.

The Tree Tent is a lightweight, hybrid Aluminium and ‘steam bent, green ash’ static airframe. It is fully insulated with Thick wool felt and thermal liners so it’s comfortable all year round. Inside is a double bed, a wood-burning stove, an under-floor storage hatch, a table and a desk. It is the perfect love-nest for two. Tucked away in 80 acres of private woodland, it is unlikely you will be disturbed by anything or anyone besides the local birdies.

Another opening leads to an ensuite facilities deck where there’s a shower, loo and sink. There is electric power to the Tree Tent so lighting is fully electric and dimmable no less! If you need to power your gadgets or work during your stay there is a power socket will come in handy too.

The tent is a brainchild of Sheepskin, which specializes in a small collection of tailor-made, rural rental cottages and houses around the UK. The tree tent is currently available for pre-booking for stays from 29th March 2013.
