It is said that one could see a sunset twice in Dubai, if one manages to take one of the quick lifts to the top Deck floor of Burj Khalifa within few minutes of Sunset at the ground level. There is good news for the people who slipped in a rush to reach the lift or reached the top deck a bit too late for the second sunset. Burj Khalifa has opened gates to its highest observation Deck which is also said to be as the world’s highest observation deck. The Deck offers visitors views from 555 metres (1,821 feet) above the ground.

Just to give people an idea on how high the new Deck shall be, the Deck shall be on the 148th floor of the tallest Man made building and shall be 24 full floors higher than its predecessor. Prior to this the highest observation deck belonged to the Canton tower around 488 metres high. So now for consistency we have the highest observation deck in the highest building in the world.

Some bad news that has attached itself to this wonderful opening is that viewing the city through the deck can cost you around 400 Dirham that is around 7000 rupees. Absolutely, try it only if you have extra money to view a second sun-set (No Pun Intended) and if by chance you get late and try to book it once you reach there, it might reach up to 500 Dirham. Once up there, an audio voice recording shall inform you about the history and construction details of Burj Khalifa.

This highest observation deck joins its sisters (or brothers): The highest restaurant in the world, ‘Atmosphere’ at the 122nd floor; the highest Night club of the world at the 144th floor and the world’s second highest swimming pool at the 76th floor.

According to the owners around 1.9 million people visited the lower observation deck in 2013 and the number is likely to increase this year. So a staggering approximate figure of 2 million people visiting the building while each paying 400 dirham (Assuming everybody pre-books) bringing 800 million Dirhams of revenue just from the people willing to get photographed on the highest deck in the world. Who says that the world is going through a financial turmoil?
