Everyone in the US seems to enjoy their comfortable homes in October but not in the city of Florida, which is full of people in ravaging costumes and even the policemen are confused with the normal people in costumes. According to the local police force, which is on their toes 24 hours during the event, “The Fantasy Fest” of Florida is generally full of life and sparsely notorious in nature. The economy of the city sustains the lull in the tourism during October solely basis this festival which successfully fills most of the hotels and occupies most of the restaurants completely.

History

Joseph Lidzka, President of TDA in essence promoted his vision of this holiday in 1978 when he prompted Frank Romano (a Founding member of the festival) to consider the slowest economical season for a carnival that could revive the people around and bring some life to the slow and slumbered life of the citizens . His vision encircled around the fact that they city has its best weather around this time while the city is either getting laid off for the season being slow or going for vacation to avoid the slumber.

Since its inception the event has been growing each year and has already been marked as one of the “wildest extravaganza around!” where Fun-loving revellers reach out leaving their children and inhibitions back home to enjoy the 10 days of October full of costuming, parades, libations, and excitement!

Fantasy Fest 2014 Theme

So if you were thinking that you could have dressed like Captain Jack sparrow or Lady gaga, well you must know that there is a theme every year for the festival and one does not require to adhere to it mandatorily but dressing according the theme would surely save you from being inconsistent or standing out of the group being noticed (Don’t confuse with outstanding please).

This year’s theme is “Animeted Dreams & Adventures” (Its Animeted and not Animated). For the people left wondering as to if the theme is spelled correctly or not, Anime is a traditionally Japanese form of animation with diverse art styles. But this style of animation has expanded into the west and has been adopted as a costuming lifestyle called “Cosplay”.

So I suggest all the people who consider them to be up for a party never seen, to pack their bags with a vow of having the best costumes in them and board whatever transport they could find to the Key West Florida. See you there if you recognize me in the extravaganza where the eastern theme meshes into the western culture.
