Imagine staring at the Aurora Borealis out of a glass roof as you lie on your bed….glorious right? Well, it is soon going to actually happen. From the glass windowed wall of the world’s first floating snowflake hotel in Norway, you can have the most wonderful experience of your life.

Who doesn’t want to see the Northern Lights glistening on the sky’s natural canvas? It must be on your bucket list already. To make this experience etch up to perfection, Netherlands based developers; Dutch Docklands is creating a floating snow-flake shaped glass hotel, Krystall.

A view of what the hotel would look like

About Krystall

The Krystall will feature 86 luxurious rooms, a conference hall and a spa, all within the glass structure. This unique property will be located in the middle of the scenic Norwegian fjord.  The project will start off in 2015 mid and is estimated to end in late 2016.

Overlooking the splendid views of the snow clad mountains of the Norwegian coast; the Krystall will also display some epic northern light shows from its glass roof.

The Location

The location where the snow flake will be positioned is a popular tourist attraction in the Arctic Circle,Tromsø. It’s famed to be the best place to watch aurora. The plan is to tether the massive snowflake hotel to the fjord’s floor. Without a firm foundation the structure could sway from between six to ten feet on each side from the epicentre. However, the guests should be oblivious to such gradual shifts in position.

Another reason to have the hotel floating in the waters rather than on dry land is for a scar-less development. This way the precious marine life of the area is not going to be affected at all.

Many are assuming that this could be the “world’s coolest travel lodge”. The structure is going to be out in the sea and not moored to land, for this reason one has to take a boat ride to reach there. Nevertheless, the snow flake will not be at the danger of being affected by high winds or waves, thanks to dampers, springs and cables.

All we can do now is to wait for this brilliant piece of architecture to actually come into being. The entire travel scope is going to be largely benefitted from this project.
