Mumbai never fails to raise its coolness quotient. First it was the Sea Planes and now it’s the Mono Rails. Famous for its local trains, amchi Mumbai is all set to experience the new train ride – the mono rail.

The intra-city service between Wadala and Chembur will become operational from February 2, 2014. Rest of the routes will also start shortly.
Passengers will be travelling through the Mumbai skyline in cute candy-coloured coaches (pink, blue and green).

The route plan is:

Route Distance
Chembur to Jacob Circle 20 km
Mulund to Borivali 30 km
Virar to Chikhaldongri 5 km
Lokhandwala to Kanjurmarg 15 km
Thane to Dahisar 25 km
Kalyan to Dombivali 27 km
Chembur to Koper Khairane 17 km
Mahape to Kalyan 22 km
Thane to Kalyan 30 km

Why Monorail is so cool and better than common trains?

  • It cannot derail, and is thus much safer than regular trains.
  • The fare is extremely economical, ranging from INR 8 to INR 20.
  • It can transport up to 200 people at one go.

The Mumbai Monorail promises to provide an efficient, hassle-free and safe transportation alternative to a common Mumbaikar.
So what are you waiting for? Grab a seat in India’s first Monorail and enjoy the ride!
