Goa Beaches To Ban Smoking

Here’s a shocker for a lot of you party people out there. Following Haryana’s ban on hookah bars now comes the Goa government’s move to make the beaches completely tobacco-free from October 2012 onwards. Along with cigarettes, hookahs offered at the beach side bars and shacks will also be banned.
The government plans to included beaches in the list of public places where smoking is illegal.

The less crowded Miramar beach located on the outskirts of Panaji will be the first where the ban will be imposed. The ban will then slowly move towards the more popular Calangute beach and Baga beach where the ban will be relatbeively tougher to implement.

The tobacco-free coastline may turn out to be a put-off for a lot of holidaymakers and college students who regularly explore Goa tour for its reputation as a party destination where booze flows in abundance and cigarettes are passed around freely.
