Turkey Tour & Travel Guide - Things to do in Turkey

Whirling Dervish

Witness a stunning performance of the Sufi order, the Dervishes, as they perform their traditional ‘whirling’ dance. All over Turkey, the whirling dervishes regularly perform their act of devotion, clad in their white skirts and hats. The ritual represents man’s spiritual journey love, life, until he finds truth.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Float over magnificent Cappadocia and get a birds-eye view of the stunning landscape, on a hot air balloon! The interesting Rock formations and world-famous ‘fairy-chimneys’ are best viewed from atop, with a gentle breeze on your face. All the spectacular sites of Cappadocia, from Red Valley to the Goreme and vineyards, are pointed out as you soar several thousand feet above ground.

Bosphorus Cruise

A night cruise down the Bosphorus in Istanbul is one of the most romantic activities you can plan for your holiday. Take a ferry and sit out on the open deck, as you enjoy the view of the lit up Old City. The ferry often makes stops at different locations, so you can stroll along the waterfront and visit many sights like the Maiden’s Tower and the Yoros Kalesi. Grab a bite to eat on the quaint bylanes as you head back to the ferry.

Hamams

Visit a traditional Turkish bath, called a Hamam, for an authentic Turkish experience. The Hamam is a combination of a sauna and a bath, and some of them offer scrubs and massages as well. These are found in many neighbourhoods in Istanbul, and are common in other Turkish cities as well.

Aquapark Club Watercity

Looking for a fun activity with the kids? If in Anakara, head to this theme park for a range of indoor and outdoor rides. Water slides, pools, sports facilities, restaurants and a cafe- the full family is guaranteed to have a good time here!

Beaches

With so many coast lines, Turkey has a beach for every kind of traveller. Ölüdeniz is perhaps the most popular and one of the most beautiful, famous for its blue lagoon. If you want privacy, head to the magnificent Butterfly Valley. Situated between two towering cliffs, this pristine stretch of beach has some great treks around it and offers camping opportunities as well. Patara beach is long and wide, and one of Turkey’s best. Olimpos beach is secluded and romantic, backed by a forest and Roman ruins. Iztuzu beach sometimes allows you a sight of logger-head turtles. Turkey has many characteristic beaches with unique features.

Skiing

Turkey is mainly mountains and therefore has great conditions for skiing and winter sports. From November to May, many ski resorts offer facilities for you to try your hand at something new. Bursa near Istanbul, Kartalkaya located in the outskirts of Bolu and Ilgaz at Kastamonu (north of Ankara) are some of the best skiing locales.
