Prague Tour & Travel Guide - Things to do in Prague

Old Town Square

This is one of two main squares in Prague, and will transport you back 600 years in time as soon as you step into it. Ancient buildings and magnificent churches line this area and date back to the 12th century. buildings of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles were erected over the years, the most notable being Old Town Hall Tower & Astronomical Clock, the Church of Our Lady before Tyn and St. Nicholas Church. Nowdays, the square is dotted with terraces, restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops and galleries. At the centre of the Old Town Square is the Jan Hus statue. Sit back and soak up the atmosphere over a coffee or a cool beer at one of the pavement cafés lining the square, or climb the Old Town Hall Tower for a stunning view over the square.

Sea World

This is a special attraction in Prague, especially for kids. A giant fish tank containing 100,000 litres of seawater, and rising 8 metres, is decorated with 4.5 tons of coral, and houses an array of beautiful fish feeding off this coral. Found here is the Sand Shark, one of the most feared sea predators. Two more tanks at Sea World house carpet sharks, rays with poison-carrying spines, 2 metre long moray eels and a variety of other fish. Spend a few hours here with the family experiencing this magnificent underwater world.

Jewish Quarter

Visit the Jewish Quarter, also known as Josefov, situated between the Old Town Square and the Vltava River. Its torrid history dates back to the 13th century, when the Jewish community in Prague were ordered to vacate their disparate homes and settle in one area. Over the centuries more and more people were crowded into the area, as Jews were banned from living anywhere else. Restrictions on their movements and the trades they were allowed to conduct underwent constant change. The Jewish Quarter, or the Prague Jewish Ghetto as it also known, is a living testimony to the history of Prague Jews, spanning many centuries. Six synagogues remain, including the Old-New Synagogue and the Spanish Synagogue, plus the Jewish Town Hall and the Old Jewish Cemetery. The Jewish Museum has one of the most extensive collections of Jewish art, textiles and silver in the world, and houses over 40,000 exhibits and 100,000 books.
