Arunachal Pradesh Tour & Travel Guide - Things to do in Arunachal Pradesh

Trekking

Many kinds of adventure sports are possible in Arunachal Pradesh. Trekkers have several options to choose from, with easy treks to long arduous ones all being possible in this region. The stunning countryside with towering peaks, high altitude passes, snowy mountains and dense jungles provide ample scenic beauty guaranteed to woo any nature enthusiast. Nap on a sunny hill, take a drink from a flowing stream and experience nature at its best. The Bomdila and Tawang areas are good for treks. A challenging trek around the region of Tawang Chu is quite popular, and starts at Jong. The trail then proceeds from Jong to Mago, through a wonderful jungle studded with magnificent waterfalls. The Along region is also known for its treks. The Along- Mechuka and Daporijo- Along are two popular treks in this region. From Bomdila one can trek to Seppa, Daimara and Chakku. May and October are the best time for treks.

River Rafting

Rafting is popular along the large Siang River. The Bhareli or Kameng River and the Subansiri River also offer rafting options. The Siang is the longest stretch, eventually merging with the Brahmaputra in Assam, and offers the best facilities. Enjoy the thrill of battling the rapids in the lap of nature as the towering mountains rise up on all sides. Enjoy the fresh mountain air, the clear sunshine and the cold river water.

Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is located just off Pasighat on an island 13km away from it. It is covered by alluvial grasslands and water bodies, with the northern, eastern and western parts surrounded by the Siang River. Many of the migratory birds from Siberia and Mongoli stop here, including cranes, storks, wild ducks, water fowls and hornbills. Endangered aquatic birds like the spot-billed pelican, bear’s pochard, Indian skimmer, lesser adjutant, lesser whistling teal, black-bellied tern and the darter are also found here. Animals like elephants, tigers, lions, buffaloes, leopards and monkeys are found here. The sanctuary is a beautiful place to visit and ideal for a day trip.
