There are several backwater routes to choose from. Alleppey to Kottayam: This exotic route will acquaint you with the breathtaking beauty of the backwaters. As you cruise along, you/’/ll see farms that are below sea level and nimble toddy tappers hard at work. Alappuzha to Alumkadavu: If you want to get acquainted with the place that first created the house boat, then take this cruise. It takes you to Kettuvallams, where several clans use to craft these traditional houseboats. Alappuzha to Thottappally: This cruise is recommended for history buffs. With planned visits to various temples and churches, the route also takes you to the Vembanad Lake and the Pathiramanal Island. Alappuzha to Mankotta: As you bob on the soft ripples, you pass through the Punnamada Lake as well as several coir making villages.
