Tsomoriri, far-flung and isolated, is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in all of India and situated at a distance of 225 kilometres from Leh. A wetland reserve that harbours many rare and vulnerable species of birds, the Moriri lake (' so' means lake in Tibetan) is fed by snow melt and springs. Some of the animals that you can spot around the area and on the way include marmots, Tibetan asses, Himalayan blue sheep and grey wolves.
