Miami Tour & Travel Guide - Tourist Places near Miami

There could be nothing better than a bunch of interesting destinations within driving distance of your main city. Here are a couple of places that are located at a distance of 2-4 hours from Miami. You can rent a car or simply board a state transport bus service to reach these destinations.

Naples

Located in southwest Florida, Naples is not more than a three hour drive from Miami. In the entire southwest Florida, Naples is well-known for its shopping and fine dining outlets. Naples offers both, a luxury accommodation and a simple small-town feel. Downtown Naples, Tin City, Bay Front, Venetian Village, Coastland Mall, etc. are some of the most famous shopping areas. You can also go to Ft Myers Beach or Vanderbilt Beach for some sightseeing and recreation. If you don’t have much time for sightseeing, you can also hire a tour guide to visit the most popular areas.

Orlando

If you are out on a family trip, your kids will anyway push you to this place. If you don’t have kids, you should absolutely come here for some pure fun!  Yes, it is about a four hour drive from Miami but it is worth your time. A tourist mecca, Orlando features Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, MGM studios, Universal Studios and many other attractions. You can also hit one of the many spas in Orlando for a quick rub-down from head to toe. Orlando also offers outdoor sports and adventure activities for all kinds of travellers.

Macro Island

Among the ten thousand islands of Florida, Macro Island is the largest. Spread over an area 24 square mile, it is located across the Everglades (known to locals as The Stretch) which is a couple of hours away from Miami.  Famous as one of the top resort islands of the world, Macro features sun-washed white sand beaches and has numerous options for outdoor sports, shopping and dining. Seafood lovers can delight their taste buds at nearby seafood joints.

Florida Keys

An hour-long drive to the south of Miami will take you to Florida Keys, a world away from the palm-tree lined Miami. The name Florida Keys has been derived from the Spanish word Cayo, or Island. Visit Key Largo or Lower Keys for some excellent water sports, Key Islamorada is the Sport Fishing capital of the World, and Key West is an inspirational site for artists.
