Constructed by the Portuguese in 1557, the two-storied palace was a present to the then King of Cochin. With sloping roofs, white walls and beautiful ceilings, the palace makes for a good tourist hub. There is a museum in the premises that displays royal memorabilia like weapons, turbans, palanquins and costumes.
Situated in Fort Cochin, this is one of the first churches that the European community built in India. There is a rich and complicated bit of history surrounding the church, which you will be able to better appreciate when you visit it.
A relatively new bird sanctuary, Thattekkad must be on your itinerary. Hop onto a boat and do the route from Bhoothathankettu to Thattekkad for a breathtaking experience as you cruise through the lush green forests that are a haven for several indigenous and migratory birds.
