Pahalgam Overview

A scenic valley in Jammu and Kashmir, situated a few hours drive away from Srinagar, Pahalgam is perhaps best known as the starting point of the famed Amarnath Yatra. Situated at the confluence of the pristine Lidder River and streams from the Sheshnag Lake, at an altitude of 2130 metres, Pahalgam is lush and green with panoramic views of the mighty Himalayas. A host of other treks are possible in this region, with beautiful forested trails and snow-capped peaks providing a stunning backdrop. Many Bollywood movies have been shot here owing to the region’s great scenic beauty. Horse riding, fishing and golf are common here, and for the more adventurous, river rafting, water sports and trekking are also very common.
