Air

Vietnam has three international airports. Tan Son Nhat airport serves Ho Chi Minh City and is Vietnam/?/s busiest international air hub. You could also land into Hanoi/?/s Noi Bai airport if you/?/re going to northern Vietnam or Danang airport, which served a handful of international flights.

Rail

Vietnam offers some of the most scenic train rides, especially from China. The stretch between Hanoi and Kunming via Lao Cai is particularly beautiful.

Road

A cheap way to get from into Vietnam from Cambodia or Laos is by bus. You can take a cheap tourist shuttle via the Bavet?Moc Bai border crossing from Cambodia. From Laos, most travelers take the bus from Vientiane to Hanoi via the Cau Treo crossing or the easier route from Savannakhet in southern Laos to Hué in central Vietnam via the Lao Bao border crossing. While it is possible to travel in and out of Vietnam by car or motorbike it isn?t the most convenient mode of transport. It is usually easy to take a Vietnamese motorbike into Cambodia or Laos, but difficult to do it the other way round. If you do decide to take up this mode, be sure to carry the vehicle?s registration papers, liability insurance and an International Driving Permit, in addition to a domestic licence.

Ferry

Vietnam shared a river border with Cambodia on the banks of the Mekong. Regular fast boats ply the route between Phnom Penh in Cambodia and Chau Doc in Vietnam, with a change at the Vinh Xuong?Kaam Samnor border. There are also two river boats going to the temples of Angkor at Siem Reap in Cambodia.
