A waterfall in the middle of the Corbett reserve and a lake in the foothills of the Himalayas; the waterfall where the famous scene in 'Raavan' was shot and a lake in Orissa, a favourite of the visiting flamingos; these are places only the locals know of and are not always easy to reach. Hogenakkal Falls

Getting drenched to the bone under a tumbling, rambunctious waterfall, yes, that's one way of spending your weekend. The Hogenakkal Falls, about 180 kilometres from Bangalore, are a series of waterfalls in the Cauvery river some plunging almost 20 metres down the gorge. Start early in the morning, watching the blur of greens on the way and arrive at the craggy banks of the Cauvery. Get into a coracle, ride down the gushing river and caper around in its fresh, cool waters.

Athirappilly Falls

Chamera Lake

Gaganachukki and Barachukki Falls
