If you do visit the Arts Centre, stop by at Untouched World for quality NZ-made clothing. Clothes may be made of mountain silk (machine-washable fine merino wool) or merino mink (a blend of merino wool and possum fur).

Craft Market

It makes for an interesting shopping experience as one goes around this area of ancient buildings and narrow streets, now home to bookshops, antique stores, galleries, herbalists and more. The Woolstore has a café, tat and souvenirs, and the Auto Museum for car buffs. Upstairs, you’ll find a craft market and giant novelty chess set. Just around the corner, at the Photo Shoppe, one can get a vintage-style photo of oneself in period dress-up. Quite a fun thing, must say!

Victoria Park Market

There is a wide range of goods including clothes, pottery, leather work and handicrafts at Victoria Park Market. It makes for just the perfect spot to spend the afternoon searching for that ideal kiwi T-shirt, tiki keyring or lambswool ruggie. Once you’re done shopping, you can unwind with a relaxing massage or have a drink in one of the cafes.

Fingers

This is a treasure trove of precious things designed and crafted by around 50 local jewellers. The shop reflects symbols of the country’s identity as well as icons and nature. Materials used to make these include precious metals, shells, fabrics, stone and found objects.

Little Brother

This store caters to shoppers looking for some fashionable streetwear that's understated tucked-and-tailored. Look out for T-shirts emblazoned by iconic music label Flying Nun, and miniature Little Brother pieces for boys (aged one to eight) under the Little Shit label.
