Tangalooma Overview

Originally a whaling station, Tangalooma is a resort township on the west side of Moreton Island in Queensland. The white beaches of Tangalooma are most popular for their resort accommodation, dolphin-feeding program, sand dunes and wreck diving. Go to the Wild Dolphin Resort at sunset to feed the local bottlenose dolphins. In an eight- to ten-week season during winter, the Australian Humpback whales migrate along the coast. The Marine Education and Conservation Centre here conduct education programs and nature-based tours to enhance visitors' awareness of the surrounding ecosystems. Take a cruise across Moreton island and go whale spotting. The island has several cafes, bars and restaurants to explore. Other activities include quad biking, bushwalking, fishing, snorkeling, jet skiing and parasailing.
