Bangkok Tour & Travel Guide - Places to See in Bangkok

Chinatown

This exciting, colourful place is one of the ancient districts of Bangkok and it allows you to take a closer look into Chinese tradition and culture. Enter into this whole new world of festivities, marked by the impressive Chinese gate that welcomes you to the Chinatown area. Chinatown is quite simply the brightest area of Bangkok and its true spirit of dynamism can be seen during celebrations like Chinese New Year and other local festivals. The place is packed with street stalls selling a wide variety of wares and it is believed that it has the highest number of gold shops in the entire city. Be it shopping, food or pure fun, Chinatown is the place for one and all.

Grand Palace

Built in 1782, this regal enclave is one of the most popular and important landmarks of Bangkok. The spacious palace is evenly divided into several other compounds. Located behind the central court, the inner court resembles a small city. The entire compound of the Grand Palace was originally sprawled over an area of 51 acres. The Grand Palace also houses several other architectural delights like the Temple of the Emerald Buddha that has close connections with ancient Indian Hindu culture. This finely designed architectural palace looks great in the moonlight.

Safari World

Whether you are visiting Bangkok with family, friends or as a solo traveler, this wonderful park, sprawled over an area of 170 acres, offers a nice opportunity for you and your loved ones to spend some time amid nature. You can choose from a wide range of available rides including safaris and boat rides. The approximate duration of these rides is around 40-50 minutes.

Siam Ocean World

Come face to face with aquatic life at the wonderland called Siam Ocean World. A glass bottom boat takes you through a tunnel and you get to see the water sea animalsgo about their routines in their natural habitats. This is bound to be an exhilarating experience for those love animals.

Erawan Shrine

Also known as the San Phra Phrom among the locals, Erawan Shrine is a popular Hindu shrine that houses an elegantly carved four-headed sculpture of the Thai god of creation. Locals associate the shrine with prosperity and good fortune. One can witness flamboyantly colourful Thai dance troupes performing in the compound. These dance performances are often sponsored by the temple followers.

La Lanta

If art and culture inspires your senses - La Lanta is going to be a treat for you. Much more than an art gallery - this four-storeyed building features a studio designed for workshops and art classes, an exhibition area for paintings and sculptures and an incredible selection of internationally acclaimed art products including prints, frames and notebooks.

Children's Discovery Museum

This is a one-of-its-kind museum, especially designed for children and makes for an inquisitive exploration through interactive displays. Breaking the rules of a traditional museum space, the Children's Discovery Museum encourages a hands-on approach to learning so you can go on exploring it and discover new things you never knew existed.

Madame Tussuads

One of the most popular tourist attractions of bangkok, this museum displays life-like wax statues of prominent figures like Aishwarya Rai, David Beckham, Christiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams and many more. It takes a good 1 to 2 hours to take a complete tour of the museum.

Temple of Reclining Buddha

It's architecture is excellent! If you have an eye for art, you cannot miss out on this one. Set in porcelain and stones, the place is steeped in history, as its ancient stupas and sculptures have great historic significance. It's home to the ancient Reclining Buddha statue.

Baiyoke Tower II

A must for those who love heights, the 304 metres tall Baiyoke Tower II looms high with 85 floors into the sky. With a public observatory deck on the 77th floor, the Baiyoke tower offers a bird's-eye view of this spectacular city. Located on the top floor is Thailand's one and only open-air, 360-degree revolving roof deck.

One tip for all those travelling to Bangkok: carry lots of currency; you will go mad shopping..it's so cheap. And then all you'll regret is not having enough cash.

We visited Chinatown on our 10-day trip to Bangkok, and we liked the place so much that we visited it thrice after that. Food, shopping, entertainment -- you have it all in one place

You should definitely check out the floating market. It's a bit crowded but quite a unique experience to haggle while you are afloat.

Siam Ocean World is total fun! My husband and kids went berserk posing with the animals.
