Singapore Tour & Travel Guide - Eating Out in Singapore

Although vegetarians may have to search a bit harder, Singapore is a foodie's dream come true. Multi cuisine dining options to suit all budgets are available.

Dempsey Hill

Dempsey Hill was originally home to the British Army barracks. However, this is now one of Singapore's most elegant and up market dining destinations. A handful of exclusive restaurants dot Dempsey Hill, snuggled amidst its graceful old-world ambience. Margarita's serves excellent Spanish cuisine, while Rakuichi serves superb sushi. There are several brewhouses in the vicinity as well. Tuck in for a fine meal with a historic context to match!

Holland Village

Located near the Buona Vista MRT station, Holland Village is a buzzing venue. It is home to a range of restaurants serving all possible cuisines, such as Marmalade Pantry, Tapas Bar and Baden. Regular franchises such as Thai Express and Coffee bean are also present. Wala wala is a favoured drinking destination.

Emerald Hill

Located in a tiny lane off Orchard Road (opposite 313 Somerset), Emerald Hill is home to a handful of casual Western dine and wine options. This is the perfect place for a tired shopper to unwind against the setting of some Beatles and U2.

Chinatown

Temple Street offers an array of authentic Chinese food choices at unbelievably low prices. Don' miss the Singaporean special, chicken satee with peanut sauce. Visit the “last sausage stall before the equator,” run by a friendly Austrian, if you fancy a different palette.

Lau Pa Sat Festival Market

Nestled in the heart of Singapor's central Business district, Lau Pa Sat offers a mindboggling area of food choices in a reasonably priced fast-food-like setting. The unique Victorian structure, designed of cast iron, is lined with rows of stalls serving ethnic and exotic cuisines.
