Jaipur Literature Festival 2014

Positively the most prestigious literary festival in the Indian subcontinent, the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival is a much awaited event that proves to be a crowd magnet every year. Drawing writers from not just the country but from across the world, it creates an intellectual atmosphere, where artists congregate, and share that one thing which unites everyone - a love for the arts. Scheduled to be held from the 17th to 21st of January this year, the festival will unfold at its usual venue, the Diggi Palace Hotel. Jam-packed with debates, discussions, workshops and other activities, this year too, Jaipur promises to open its doors to the world, welcoming them with the promise of a very unique experience.

To enable maximum participation, the literature festival of Jaipur is organised around a weekend, including the Republic Day holiday.

To put it simply, there are a lot of people coming. The panels include writers, intellectuals, and academic achievers. Popular figures you cannot miss will be William Dalrymple, and Namita Gokhale, who are the directors of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

The music at the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival this time is probably the most exciting bit. With special performances including Rajasthani folk music, rap, Pakistani rock, Sufi, qawwalis, Progressive alternate rock etc. the range is simply outstanding.

While at Jaipur, you could make the most of it by also visiting the many forts this city is famous for. Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Birla Temple, Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar are some of the main attractions.
